Dan

I needed a day off and this was it.

I got a blue dress today! We arrived in Cairns (I am convinved that cities have the evil eye over them) and began to argue. We both want the same thing, its just a matter of who's going to get it his/her way. We managed to work it out, and find an internet place to post the last 5 days of reports.

Cairns (pronouned kans) is the major doorway to Northern Tropical Australia. The worlds gate to the reef if you would. Maps here have the Japanese kanji in line with western lettering, and oriental cuisine abound. The food court, where we doggedly lapped our fruit salad and croissant for lunch, had only one non-Asian faire.

The city has a touristy feel, but its also kinda cute. I like hempy-bong shops, and rastafarian colored walls as much as the next woman! The esplanade has a neat looking lagoon for swimming (the metal fish) and is surrounded by cafes and information bookies. We found a book exchange (need new reads) and got me a great new blue dress! Ahh, that's better...
