Dan or Justy

Here's the latest on the van: not one person has seen it and thought Jimi Hendrix. Oh sure, on the port side where "Jimi Hendrix" is painted, they'll think it, but mostly they're confused because the portrait on that side looks like Bob Marley. The starboard side portrait is the real problem: a young woman in Ravenswood was relieved to hear that it was supposed to be Jimi Hendrix. She thought we were Michael Jackson fans traveling around to show our support.

Yikes.

Justy and I watched many, many hours of TV today and last night. It was grand.

We signed up for the Yongala dive today. We will be diving from the equivalent of a 33 foot dinghy. It had a rigid hull and goes 30 knots/hour. And yet, with 12 people, it will not be spacious.

The good news is that the advertised 45 min runtime out to the wreck is a worst-case scenario. The bad news is that the seas are often rough. The wreck lies in an unprotected part of the channel. The current can be quite strong.

I've read quite a bit about this wreck. It is renown for a good reason: abundant life. In fact this is a snippet of our conversation:

Dan: We hear theres a lot of life on the wreck.
Julie: Yeah, we've got some complaints about that.

This is mango country! Dan can hardly contain himself, though his fave and only way to enjoy the sweet mango is in lassi, or shake form. Oddly, he's not a 'eat them raw' fan. They can be abit sour eaten raw, they leave mango-hairs in your teeth, mango-dribble on your chin, and are a pain in the arse to get at with a knife...but I still crave the damn things.

The sides of the roads are littered with mango trees. Among them are banana, pineapples and many other species of tropical fruit I cant yet recognize. There are farmer stands along the way offering these goodies on ice. You can imagine they get the business!
